My name is Lucy-Ann Dolly and
I am the owner of Baby Dolly. My interest in antenatal
education and babies began after the successful birth
of my first daughter at home. I now have four children
and have experienced all manner of births - all positive!
Although I have had three home births (one a water
birth) I also gave birth under an epidural in hospital
so have a wide range of experiences. I have worked
at both the George Eliot Hospital Maternity Unit and
the Leicester Royal Infirmary Maternity Unit.
I have a Diploma of Higher Education in Antenatal
Education and have been teaching antenatal courses
for around 8 years. I achieved my Diploma through
the University of Luton and the NCT. I believe antenatal
education is a very important part of any pregnancy
and can really help parents to understand what is
happening and feel confident in the decisions they
make. My aim has always been to make the antenatal
classes relaxed and a fun place to learn about this
magical event.
Most recently I have undergone my Unicef Baby Friendly
training (April 2010).
I am also a qualified Peter Walker Baby Massage instructor. |

My name is Faith Withington and
I have been working with Baby Dolly since April 2008.
My interest in antenatal education and babies began
long before the births of my four children. With four
pregnancies and births comes a wide range of experiences
- I have had a caesarean birth, followed by a land
birth!, then a water birth and finally a premature
birth!
I am completing a Diploma of Higher Education in
Antenatal Education, and am a qualified Peter Walker
Baby Massage instructor. I also have NVQ level 3 in
British Sign Language, and have spent several years
working with the Deaf.
My other passion is photography and scrapbooking,
mainly photos of my kids!

My name is Vicky Almey. I am a
new addition to Baby Dolly in March 2011. I am currently
a registered midwife and have been qualified since
February 2003. I trained at DeMontford University
in Leicester. My clinical training was mostly gained
at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. During my three
years training I gained a wealth of experience in
the field of midwifery. As soon as I qualified I took
a midwifery post at Solihull Hospital. I worked there
for several years, both on delivery suite and the
postnatal ward.
After having a surprise 3rd baby in 2008 I was offered
a position within Leicestershire Primary Care Trust
as a smoking in pregnancy specialist. I enjoy this
job alot and gain a great deal of satisfaction in
educating and helping pregnant women and their families
to quit smoking.
I have a very keen interest in antenatal education
and view it as a most important aspect of pregnancy
care.
I have three beautiful children who all had different
deliveries! One normal birth, one elective cesarean
section for a breech baby and one emergency cesarean
section. I hope my professional and personal experience
can be of benefit to others. |

My name is Sarah Potter, and yes
well into my forty's but still smiling! I have been
blessed with four wonderful children, ranging from
26 yrs to 5yrs old. I have been a single parent for
as long as I can remember but we have a close family
bond. Currently have a house full of various animals,
as well as all my children and successfully breed
English bulldogs. Best thing in life - giving and
receiving hugs from my children :) Guess thats where
my commitment to Baby massage started. A centuries
old tradition which can help give a child the best
possible start in life - health, happiness, security
and a feeling of being loved, deepening the parent
infant bond through nurturing touch. No pressure no
judgement just a love for babies. |

My name is Gemma Erskine and I
work in the busy hub that is Baby Dolly’s office!
When you call Baby Dolly it is most likely to be me
that answers the call :)
I have worked for Baby Dolly for 2 years now and
I love every minute – every day is different!
I have had an interest in pregnancy and babies since
I was 11 when I assisted my mum with my sisters very
quick birth on the kitchen floor! I have since then
gone onto being a birth partner at two other births.
I’m a bit of a technology geek at heart and
love speaking to clients on the phone - helping wherever
I can. |
Baby Dolly was born in January 2003, we were the first
private antenatal company in the area, before antenatal
education was even a recognised search in Google! We are
based in Leicestershire and our aim is to provide antenatal
education and maternity services to anyone who wants them!
We offer a large range of antenatal courses to suit every
working life, pocket and preference, a very competitive
National TENS hire service, baby massage classes in a number
of locations and also some carefully selected and tested
products. We pride ourselves on the service we provide and
the positive feedback we receive. I have noted just a few
of the comments from past clients below:
"This has been absolutely brilliant, thanks very much"
"It has been very worthwhile and I would suggest all
mums and dads to attend"
"Very much enjoyed all aspects of the course, very
pleasurable experience would recommend to anyone!!!"
"The course was very good and provided us with many
details which would allow us to make better decisions during
labour"
"The meetings have been really relaxed and informal
and therefore everyone's been able to ask questions etc
without feeling silly! thank you very much"
"I have enjoyed the classes every week and looked forward
to them, I would highly recommend"
"Excellent course which has prepared me much more than
anticipated for the forthcoming birth, you are highly recommended
to others!"
“Just wanted to thank you for your help and support
at the antenatal classes and via email. Millie came naturally
8 days late and we had a fantastic water birth at the George
Eliot – So pleased you talked us into it!
We made good use of your advice when we got home too –
the “tog rating” handout was pinned on the fridge!
The information we had on breastfeeding has also been particularly
useful.
We’ve recommended your classes to everyone we have
met!”
